Kentucky Teacher Scholarship

If you can picture yourself in front of a classroom teaching -- and you are going to require financial assistance for the college education that will make that dream come true – read on! This is a renewable scholarship for full-time students in accredited 2 or 4-year Kentucky universities or colleges. In order to apply, you must reside in Kentucky, be able to provide proof of financial need, and major in education, early childhood education, or special education. In order to prove financial need, go to www.fafsa.ed.gov and complete the free FAFSA application (see note above for complete details). Scholarship awards range from $300 to $5,000. Loan forgiveness is given, after graduation, for teaching in Kentucky schools – one semester for each semester of financial aid; or, two semesters if teaching is done in an area where there is a teaching shortage. Note: if you do not graduate or complete your teaching obligation, the scholarship reverts to a loan and must be repaid. For further information, check out the web at www.kheaa.com. Nurse Incentive Scholarship Incentive Fund (NISIF)

This scholarship is much like the one above, but it applies to students majoring in nursing. In order to apply you must reside in Kentucky, be a high school senior, provide proof of financial need, and have a history of academic achievement. Loan forgiveness is available after graduation based on work in a health care setting per semester of training. If post-graduate reciprocal work is not completed, the entire amount will revert to a loan and it, plus interest will have to be paid back. For more information, look for the NISIF on line.

Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship

You have worked hard in school and shown consistently high scholastic achievement! You may qualify for this prestigious scholarship. You must be a Kentucky resident and a high school senior in order to apply. Scholastically, you are required to have at least a 3.5 GPA, minimum 1060 SAT score, or 2700 GED score. You must be recommended by a school official or GED coordinator. They will need to certify your eligibility on the KHEAA Website www.kheaa.com. Contact your high school guidance counselor for more information on how to apply. Award is renewable for up to four years, and initial amount is $1,500 per year.

Kansas State Scholarship

Are you a designated State Scholar, and able to demonstrate your need for financial assistance in order to pursue a college education? This award is for a very special student – one with a 3.9 GPA, and ACT scores of 29. If you meet these requirements, inquire to the:

Laura Blackburn Memorial Scholarship

Do you have a parent who has been member of a Kentucky American Legion Unit for at least the last three years, or a deceased member? Are you a descendant or dependent of a veteran who served during the Grenada conflict, Korean War, Lebanon conflict, Panama conflict, Persian Gulf War, WWI, WWII, or Viet Nam? Are you a high school student living in Kentucky? If you answered ‘yes’ to these questions, you might be eligible for this scholarship. This scholarship is awarded in the amount of $1,000, may be used at 2-year or 4-year eligible educational institution in Kentucky. Application requires proof of eligibility. Kansas Comprehensive Grant

There is a major benefit to a grant – you never have to pay it back! So – if you qualify – it can be your ticket to an excellent education at a fraction of the cost. This is a renewable scholarship intended for full-time undergrad study at an accredited 4-year university or college. To qualify you must reside in Kansas, and demonstrate your need for financial assistance. To do so, get on line at www.fafsa.ed.org and complete the free FAFSA application, noted above. This grant awards up to $1,100 to those attending public schools and up to $3,000 to those going to private institutions. Kansas Ethnic Minority Scholarship

Are you a member of one of the ethnic minorities that is considered for this scholarship? If you are an Alaskan Native, Asian American, African American, Mexican American, Hispanic American, Puerto Rican, or American Indian – you qualify! You also must reside in Kansas, have a history of high academic achievement, and be able to demonstrate financial need in order to continue your education. To do so, first go on line and complete the FAFSA free application that determines financial need (see note above for more details). Next, in addition to your State of Kansas Student Aid Application, for which there is a $12 fee, you will need to provide proof of eligibility, nomination for this award, transcript indicating at least a 3.0 GPA, and proof of FAFSA. Albert M. Lappin Scholarship

Do you have a parent who has been member of an American Legion Kansas Unit for at least the last three years, or a deceased member? If so, you might be eligible for this scholarship. You must reside in Kansas. Application requirements include letters of recommendation, essay, transcript, proof of eligibility, photo of yourself, and income tax forms. Scholarship awards are made for a maximum amount of $1,000, and may be used at 2-yuear or 4-year eligible colleges, universities, and vocational schools in Kansas. Charles and Annette Hill Scholarship

Much like the one listed above, qualified applicants must reside in Kansas, and must be a descendant of an American Legionnaire who has been a member for at least three years, or be a descendant of a deceased member. You must be planning a career in science, engineering, or business management or administration. Other application requirements include letters of recommendation and an essay, transcript showing a minimum GPA of 3.0, proof of eligibility, income tax forms, and a photo of yourself. Iowa Farm Bureau Federation Scholarship

If you are the child of an Iowa Farm Bureau member, and intend to follow the family tradition with a career in an agriculture related field, you should consider this scholarship. You must be a high school senior living in Iowa. Along with the application you will need to submit letters of recommendation, essay, and transcript. For more information, check the website www.iowacollegeaid.gov. This award may be used for undergraduate study at Iowa colleges or universities.

Iowa Grant

There is a wonderful thing about a grant! Unlike student loans, and even some scholarships, they never need to be repaid. This particular grant is designated for use at 2 or 4-year colleges and universities in state, and if you are a high school senior living here, you may apply. You must also be able to demonstrate your need for financial assistance. In order to do this, please complete the free FAFSA on line at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Grant amounts may be adjusted for part-time students. The process works like this -- the state gives grant allocations to the colleges and universities, and they, in turn, award grants to the students with the greatest financial need. Iowa Robert C. Byrd Honor Scholarship

If you have really worked to maintain excellent grades throughout your scholastic career, and are a high school senior living in Iowa, who plans to attend a 2 or 4-year college or university full-time, you may be the one to receive this award. Application requires a minimum 3.5 GPA, and at least a 1860 SAT, 28 ACT. Other scholastic requirements include completion of three years of social studies, advanced mathematics, science beyond general science, four years of English, and two years of a foreign language. You must rank in the top 10% of your graduating class. Application must be accompanied by letters of recommendation indicating leadership abilities and character references, an essay, transcript, proof of eligibility, and AP scores. Governor Terry E, Branstad Iowa State Fair Scholarship

If you are a Iowa high school senior and have ever been actively involved in our state fair – you’re half way there to qualify for this scholarship. Application requirements also include letters of recommendation, essay, and proof of state fair participation. Awards range from $500-$1,000, and are to be used at eligible Iowa universities and colleges. Applications may be obtained through the website www.iowacollegeaid.gov.

Harriet Hoffman Memorial Scholarship

If you read the paragraph above, but have your heart set on being a teacher instead of a nurse, then read on. The application requirements are exactly the same: essay, transcript, proof of eligibility, and a photo of yourself. The award of $400 is for use at eligible Iowa colleges and universities. Horatio Alger Iowa Scholarship Program

If you are a high school senior who has already faced and overcome great obstacles in your life, you need to take a closer look at this program.

Other requirements include Iowa residency and that you are a high school senior; that you be able to demonstrate financial need; that you have maintained a record of good academic achievement; and, that you are service orientated. To apply you will need to submit an essay, copy of your transcript showing a minimum 2.0 GPA, a letter of support, and an income statement. Scholarship award is for $3,000; you may begin your college career in a 2-year college in Iowa, but must plan to obtain your bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa. All Iowa Opportunity Scholarships

This unique scholarship is designed to give preference in winner selection to Iowa high school students who have participated in federal TRIO programs, students graduating from alternative schools, or homeless youth. It is intended for use at Iowa colleges and universities. Awards are for up to average tuition and fee rates of Regents University for the current academic year. To qualify you must have a minimum GPA of 2.5, and be able to prove need for financial assistance by completing the FAFSA, at www.fafsa.ed..gov. There is no fee for this application. Indiana Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship

If you have really worked to maintain excellent grades throughout your scholastic career, are a high school senior who resides in Indiana, are not in dept to the federal government, have never been sentenced for a drug offense, and plan to attend a 2 or 4-year college or university full-time, you may be the one to receive this award. Application requires proof of eligibility which includes a minimum 3.0 GPA, at least a 1300 SAT, 29 ACT, or 65 GED. All qualified applicants receive an award. Mary Virginia Mcrae Memorial Scholarship

If you are the dependent of a veteran of US military services, or a dependent of a deceased veteran, and are destined to be a nurse, this scholarship might be of help. In the amount of $400, the funds can be used at eligible colleges and universities in Iowa. Application requirements include letters of recommendation, essay, transcript, proof of your eligibility, and a photo of yourself. Contact www.ialegion.org/ala.

Hoosier Scholar Award

Are you a high school senior, resident of Indiana, and a super student? If you are in the top 20% of your graduating class, are nominated by your high school guidance counselor, and it is determined that you are qualified for this award, you will automatically receive $500. Money may be used for full-time freshman study at a designated accredited university or college. Indiana Minority Teacher & Special Education Services Scholarship

If you are a high school senior with a major interest in education, special education, occupational or physical therapy, and are of African American, Mexican American, Hispanic American or Puerto Rican decent, you may qualify for this scholarship. You must also demonstrate financial need by completing the free FAFSA found on line at www.fafsa.ed.gov. You must have a minimum grade point of 2.0, and must be black or Latino unless going into special education or occupational or physical therapy. All qualified applicants will receive an award. These range from $1,000-$4,000. For more information go to www.in.gov/ssaci.

Indiana Nursing Scholarship

If you’ve wanted to be a nurse all your life – or just decided yesterday – you need to look into this scholarship. It is based on financial need (established by completing the FAFSA application on line) and a minimum GPA of 2.0. You must be admitted to an eligible Indiana 2 or 4-year institution, majoring in nursing. All qualified applicants receive an award. These vary in amounts from $50 to $5,000. You must commit to work two years as a nurse, upon graduation, in an Indiana health care setting. American Legion Legacy Scholarship

If you are a senior in high school, residing in Indiana, and a child (biological, adopted, or step) of an active duty US military or National Guard parent who perished on active duty on or after 9/11/2001, you may apply for this scholarship. Along with the application you will have to submit a transcript and proof of eligibility. This is a renewable scholarship, and the amount and number of scholarships awarded change each year. Frank O’Bannon Grant

If you are interested in a “sure thing” this is it! If you reside in Indiana and can demonstrate your need for financial assistance after submitting the FAFSA application, according to the literature, you will automatically fulfill your application requirements, and all students will be offered an award in some amount. Although amount of awards is not provided, this commission did give out 50,500+ grants last year, and, if you meet the requirements, there is no reason why you can’t be one of the recipients this year. All applicants satisfying the eligibility requirements will receive an award. For more information contact the State Student Assistance Commission of Indiana at www.in.gov/ssaci.

College Bound Scholarship

If you live or go to high school within the city limits of Chicago, are a high school junior, have high grades, and can prove financial need, you may be eligible for this unique scholarship! It is different because it provides financial support for five years, including one year of college preparatory study, a $5,000 merit scholarship, summer programming and internship opportunities. Application requirements include an essay, letters of recommendation, and your transcript. Young Survivor Scholarship

If you have battled cancer – and are a survivor – you can apply for this very special scholarship. The $2,500 award may be used for full-time undergrad study in any 2 or 4-year institution in the United States. There is no designated major field of study. To be eligible you must be able to demonstrate financial need, reside in Indiana, have demonstrated leadership qualities, and shown depth of character and service to others. Application needs to be accompanied by letters of recommendation, an essay, transcript, FAFSA, and a letter from your physician verifying your diagnosis and outcome. Monetary Award Program (MAP)

This is a renewable scholarship based on financial need and does not designate a major field of study. It can be used at ISAC-MAP approved colleges or universities in Illinois. Requirements include that you be a high school senior who resides in the state, and that you demonstrate financial need., by completing the FASFA application, which can be obtained free on the web, www.fasfa.ed.gov. The amount of this award is determined by funding available each year; it is $4,968 in 2010. Contact the Illinois Student Assistance Commission for details, www.collegezone.com.

Illinois General Assembly Legislative Scholarship

This is a renewable scholarship that can be used at Illinois state-supported schools. To be eligible you must reside in the state and be nominated by a member of the General Assembly. To seek nomination, get in touch with your County Clerk’s office and get the name and telephone number of your legislators. You must reside in the district represented by your nominator. This award pays full tuition. Contact your state senator and state representative for an application. Also, check this website: www.isbe.state.il.us.

Minority Teachers of Illinois Scholarship

If you long to be a teacher, this scholarship might provide the help you are looking for. To apply, you must be an Alaskan native, Asian American, African American, Mexican American, Hispanic American, Puerto Rican, or American Indian, and reside in Illinois. The monies provided may be used at ISAC-approved institutions in the state. In addition to those qualifications noted above you must have a GPA of 2.5 or better, and plan to major in education.

This scholarship is in the amount of $5,000, but you will be required to sign a commitment to teach one year for each year of scholarship awarded, and you have to spend that time teaching in a non-profit Illinois preschool, elementary or secondary school with at least 30% minority enrollment. AND, if you do not fulfill this teaching commitment, the scholarship will revert to a loan, and the entire amount, plus interest, will need to be repaid. American Legion Illinois Boy Scout Scholarship

This is a scholarship which can be used for undergraduate study to study journalism at an accredited college or university. To qualify, you or a parent must be a member or participant in the Boy Scouts of America. You must be a high school senior and resident of Illinois. Once you meet all of the qualifications, the next step is participation in a competition requiring a 500-word essay on the American Legion, Americanism, and the Boy Scout program. Winners will be selected based on this competition, talent, and interest in writing and journalism. There are two awards: $700 for first place, and $200 for second. American Legion Auxiliary Student Nurse Scholarship

Have you always wanted to be a nurse or is it a recent decision? Well, if you reside in Illinois, are a high school senior, and are sponsored by a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit, you can apply for this scholarship. Treacy Company Scholarship

For this one, you must be able to prove that there is a need for financial assistance; be a resident of Idaho, Montana or North Dakota; have proven leadership abilities; and, have shown a seriousness of purpose and service orientation in the past. The award is in the amount of $1,000 and is renewable. Application requires transcript, letter stating your reasons for applying, including personal information. Grow Your Own Teacher Scholarship Program

If you can imagine yourself in front of a classroom doing the teaching, you need to read this one! This scholarship is available for undergrad study at Boise State University, Idaho State, Lewis-Clark College, and the College of Southern Idaho. This program was established to help students become bilingual education, ESL, and Native American teachers. Award is for $3,000. Idaho Governor’s Cup Scholarship

If you would like a renewable $3,000 scholarship that you can use at Idaho colleges and universities, that has no specific major listed – this is for you! Eligibility requirements include that you must be a high school senior, reside in Idaho, have demonstrated continuous academic achievement with a GPA of at least 2.8, contributed to your community by volunteering, and proven that you have leadership qualities. Application will require letters of recommendation, essay, transcript, SAT/ACT scores, along with documentation of volunteer work, leadership and public service. Robert R. Lee Category A Promise Scholarship

This is a unique scholarship targeting outstanding students. It can be used for full-time study at any Idaho state-funded colleges or universities. Eligible students are high school students who reside in Idaho, who have a minimum 28 ACT score and 3.5 GPA, and are in the top 10% of their graduating class. The amount of this award is $3,000, and is renewable for the second freshman semester. American Legion Idaho

This is a scholarship which can be used for undergraduate study in any accredited college or university. Shuichi, Katsu and Hsuyo Suga Scholarship

You’ve really worked hard to make good grades – at least a 3.0 GPA – and you’re a whiz in math, physics, science, computer/information sciences, or technology. Rosemary & Nellie Ebrie Fund

This scholarship may be used at any 2 or 4-year college or university in the United States, but you must be a Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander and be a long-time resident, born and currently living on the island of Hawaii to, qualify for it. There is no major field of study specified. You do have to have a GPA of 2.7, demonstrate need for financial assistance, and have history of showing depth of character. Community Scholarship Fund

If your major interests fall into one of these categories – general arts, architecture, education, humanities/liberal arts; or, social/behavioral sciences – you need to read on!!! This is a scholarship funded for those students in need of financial assistance, who have maintained good grades (GPA of 3.0), are service oriented, and demonstrations of your depth of character. Application requires an essay, transcript, FAFSA and SAR, and transcript. A permanent address in Hawaii is required. You should also be able to demonstrate your potential for filling community needs by relating your accomplishments, motivation, initiative, and vision, and show your intention to return to the islands after your education is complete. Cora Aguda Manayan Fund

If you are of Filipino ancestry and are interested in a health related profession, this group is waiting for your application. The award can be used for full-time study in the United States, but preference is given to those who intend to study in Hawaii. Eligibility depends on financial need, grades, and depth of character. Application requirements are essay, transcript, FAFSA and SAR. Applicants must have a permanent Hawaiian address, and if you take up residency on the mainland to study, you must have relatives still living here. NASA Hawaii Space Grant Consortium

This scholarship covers full time undergrad study at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and Hilo. You have to be a resident of the state, and plan to major in astronomy, geology/earth sciences, oceanography/marine studies, physics, zoology, engineering or geography. There are a number of other eligibility and application requirements for this award. First, you must be sponsored by a faculty member who will be your mentor for the covered period. Master in Strategic Project Management


The Masters in Strategic Project Management (European) course offers a balanced programme of professional training at postgraduate level informed by the most recent research in the field over a 16-month full-time study period.

An internationally recognised multiple degree is awarded by each University in the consortium of three top European universities:

Admission criteria

Master Scholarship in Insurance and Risk Management


MIB School of Management of Trieste, Italy is pleased to announce a scholarship competition for applicants to the eleventh edition of the Master in Insurance and Risk Management. The scholarships will cover tuition fees to attend the Master in Insurance and Risk Management program (January 2011 – December 2011).

Tuition Fees
The scholarships will cover up to 100% of the tuition fees (equivalent to 20.000,00 EUR 20% V.A.T. included). The amount of the scholarships will be discounted from the overall tuition fees. In case of course abandonment or exclusion for any reason, no amount of the scholarship will be paid or reimbursed.

Eligibility Requirements
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
  • Academic degree (or equivalent qualification).
  • Good working knowledge of English (TOEFL certificate is recommended).

Humane Studies Fellowships at IHS, USA


Institute for Humane Studies at George Mason University, USA, awards Humane Studies Fellowships of up to $15,000 for graduate or undergraduate study to graduate students and outstanding undergraduates planning academic careers with liberty-advancing research interests. The fellowships are open to students in a range of fields, such as economics, philosophy, law, political science, anthropology, and literature.

The program began in 1983 as the Claude R. Lambe Fellowships, and in 2010 we awarded more than 180 fellowships ranging from $2,000 to $15,000.

Past fellows have researched a variety of topics that explore historical and contemporary ideas that maximize freedom of action and support the rule of law:
  • market-based approaches to environmental policy
  • the legal development of privacy and property rights in 18th-century England
  • the role of patient autonomy in bioethics
  • impediments to economic growth in developing countries
  • the relationship between U.S. presidential politics, fiscal policies, and economic performance

Awards are based on academic or professional performance, relevance of one's work to the advancement of a free society, and potential for success.

Summer Semester Scholarships in Slovakia


SAIA, n. o., was authorized by the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic to hold an extraordinary selection of scholarship holders in the National Scholarship Programme for stays in the summer semester 2010/2011. The deadline for applications is 24 November 2010 16.00 CET (Central European Time).

The stays have to be carried out by:
  • students: between 1 February 2011 (at the earliest) and 30 June 2011 (at the latest);
  • PhD students, researchers and university teachers: between 1 February 2011 (at the earliest) and 31 August 2011 (at the latest).
The exact duration of stay must be specified in the acceptation/invitation letter.The selection result will be communicated to the applicant by e-mail by the end of December 2010.

Other administrative procedures associated with the scholarships in this call (issue of decrees on granting of scholarship/agreements on granting of scholarship, method of payment and reporting about the stay) will be handled by the Ministry (directly or through an authorised organisation) after the selection.

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS, PhD STUDENTS, UNIVERSITY TEACHERS AND RESEARCHERS

Establishment of the National Scholarship Programme for the Support of Mobility of Students, PhD Students, University Teachers and Researchers was approved by the Government of the Slovak Republic in 2005. The National Scholarship Programme of the Slovak Republic is funded by the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic.
The National Scholarship Programme of the Slovak Republic is intended to support mobility of foreign students, PhD students, university teachers and researchers to stay at Slovak universities, research institutions and non-governmental organizations conducting research on the basis of an invitation.

Types of scholarships
a) Scholarships for foreign university students (enrolled at least in the 6th semester) to take part in Master study over a period of 1 semester at Slovak universities.
b) Scholarships for foreign PhD students to take a part of PhD study over a period of 1 to 7 months at Slovak universities or research institutes.
c) Scholarships for foreign university teachers and researchers over a period of 1 to 7 months to carry out teaching or research at Slovak universities, research institutes or nongovernmental organisations conducting research.

The Scholarship Programme does not support:
a) foreign students and PhD students intending to enrol or accepted for entire Master or PhD studies in Slovakia, specifically those who are already studying in Slovakia and would like to cover a part of their costs from the National Scholarship Programme;
b) foreign university teachers and researches who are already teaching or researching at Slovak universities and research institutes;
c) citizens of the Slovak Republic studying, teaching or researching at foreign universities or research institutes;
d) foreign applicants accepted for other scholarship programmes in Slovakia (for example Visegrad Fund, Erasmus, CEEPUS, bilateral agreements, etc.).

Scholarship designation
The scholarship is designated to cover living costs (accommodation, boarding, etc.) of a study, research and teaching stay of foreign applicants at Slovak universities and research institutions. The applicants can ask their host institution to assist them to arrange their accommodation and necessary documents regarding the stay in Slovakia, or they have to arrange it by themselves. The Scholarship Programme does not cover the travel costs to and from Slovakia.
