In 1843 Sheffield School of Design was founded. Its name underwent many changes and ultimately in 1992 it came to be known as Sheffield Hallam University when it received the authority to award its own degrees. It is situated in the centre of Sheffield city.
The faculties of this university are:
1. FACULTY of Arts, Computing, Engineering, Sciences comprising of departments like Art and Design; Business System and IT; Communication and Media, Mathematics and Statistics, Multimedia and Internet.
2. FACLTY OF Development and Society with departments like Built Environment, Community Justice, Law, Social Sciences.
3. FACULTY of Health and Wellbeing including departments like Biosciences, Diagnostic Radiography, Nursing and Midwifery, Paramedic Studies.
4. Faculty of Organization and Management including Business and Management, Finance, Food and Nutrition, Tourism, Culture, Hospitality and Leisure.
