Purpose of award: To provide assistance to needy and worthy children of American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary members.
Eligibility requirements: Applicants must be average or better students who are high school seniors or college freshmen or sophomores enrolling or enrolled in a post-secondary school in Kansas. They must be the son or daughter of a veteran, and a parent must have been a member of the Kansas American Legion or American Legion Auxiliary for the past three years. The children of deceased parents are also eligible if the parent was a paid member at the time of death. Applicants must submit three letters of recommendation, including one from a teacher, an essay on "Why I Want to Go to College", high school transcript, a 1040 income statement and documentation of parent's veteran status.
